Is a federal apostille required?
The destination determines what your
FBI report needs next.
An FBI Identity History Summary is the underlying record. If it will
be presented outside the United States, the receiving authority may
also require a federal apostille or authentication before accepting it.

It is the record the FBI provides in response to a fingerprint-based
identity history request. It may show information tied to fingerprint
submissions or confirm that no identity history was found. It is often
requested for immigration, residency, employment, licensing, or
citizenship matters outside the United States.
That depends on where the document will be used and what the receiving
authority requested. A Hague Convention destination will commonly ask
for a federal apostille. A non-Hague destination may require a federal
authentication certificate followed by additional embassy or consular
steps. EZPZ checks the destination before recommending the route.
An FBI background check is a federal document, so it follows the
federal apostille or authentication process—not the usual
secretary-of-state process used for many state and local documents.
The original FBI document should not be notarized simply to send it
through a state-level route.
Your document may need a federal authentication certificate instead
of an apostille. Depending on the country, the destination embassy or
consulate may also require legalization. Tell us the country and the
purpose of the document so we can map the appropriate sequence.
A new FBI Identity History Summary request requires a current
fingerprint submission. The available collection and submission
options depend on your location and the request method. EZPZ can help
you understand the next step before your document enters the
apostille process.
Yes. Send the report for review and tell us where it will be used.
If the document is suitable for the requested service, we can begin
with the federal apostille or authentication stage and coordinate any
translation and return delivery you need.
Translation requirements are set by the receiving authority. If a
translation is required, EZPZ can coordinate certified translation
alongside the document service so the pieces stay organized within
one process.
Timing varies based on whether you already have the FBI report,
current government processing, the destination country, translation,
legalization, and delivery. Share your deadline when requesting a
quote and we will explain the available service options—without
promising a timeline the issuing authorities do not control.
Yes. Domestic and international return delivery can be coordinated
for completed documents. Provide the destination when you request a
quote so the team can confirm the available delivery method and price.
Tell us the destination country, why the document is being requested,
your deadline, whether you already have the FBI report, and whether
you may need translation or international delivery. Those details help
us recommend the right service path and prepare a clearer quote.
Every destination is different.
Final requirements are determined by the authority receiving your document.
